- RECIPE YEAR: 2018
- RECIPE BY: Jason Denton, Jackson's Bar & Oven
- YIELD: Serves 12
- PAIRS WELL WITH: 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon, Ruth's Vineyard, Alexander Valley
A Midwest favorite, these Sloppy Joes have a heartiness and a comfort-feel that pairs well with our beautiful Cabernet Sauvignon (Ruth's Vineyard, Alexander Valley).
Ingredients:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 1 small green bell pepper, seeded and diced
- 2/3 cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 dash Worcestershire sauce
- 12 slider buns
- 1 1/2 cups shredded Monterey jack cheese
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- Grated Parmesan cheese, to taste
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350°F. In a large frying pan over medium-high heat, combine the ground beef, onion and bell pepper and cook, stirring occasionally, until the meat is no longer pink and the onion and pepper are tender. Drain off the excess fat. Stir in the ketchup, mustard and Worcestershire sauce. Place the bottoms of the slider buns in a 2-quart baking dish (about 7 by 11 inches) and top with the ground beef mixture. Sprinkle with the Monterey jack and cover with the bun tops. Brush the melted butter over the tops of the sliders and sprinkle with the Parmesan. Transfer to the oven and bake until the cheese is melted, about 10 minutes.
