- RECIPE YEAR: 2015
- YIELD: Serves 12
- PAIRS WELL WITH: 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon
A slow-cooked pulled pork slider is the perfect winter meal companion to our Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.
Ingredients:
- 2 red onions, sliced
- 1/2 cup Cabernet Sauvignon
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 pounds boneless pork loin
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- Slider buns for serving
Directions:
In a slow cooker, combine the onions and wine. In a small bowl, stir together the chili powder, pepper and garlic powder. Sprinkle the pork on all sides with the seasoning mixture. Place the pork in the slow cooker. Cover and cook on low according to the manufacturer's instructions for 9 to 10 hours, or on high for 5 hours. Transfer the pork to a cutting board. When cool enough to handle, shred the meat and return it to the slow cooker. Add the barbecue sauce, honey and ginger and heat until warmed through. Serve the pork and sauce on slider buns.
